Love and Antiquity

We are all looking forward to the next 21st edition of the music festival. This time it will be characterised by the romantic combination of Love and Antiquity, based on the world-famous opera by G.F. Handel – Julius Caesar in Egypt. Don’t miss this magnificent Baroque masterpiece.

G.F.HÄNDEL: GIULIO CESARE IN EGITTO – PREMIERE
Opera in authentic musical interpretation on historical instruments. With extraordinary international soloist cast! A story that has inspired many authors before and after Handel in various art forms. Handel’s version is one of those extraordinarily successful ones, still alive today, continuing to inspire composers and musicians, and fascinating audiences and listeners to present day.
INDUSTRIAL CONCERT: PAVEL ŠPORCL
Violin virtuoso Pavel Šporcl will celebrate twenty years of his patronage of our festival with a spectacular symphonic concert. He has invited the Czech National Symphony Orchestra to join him on this occasion, led by chief conductor Andreas Schüller (DE) – in partnership with the Retz Festival.
The programme of the concert is in the spirit of this year’s main dramaturgical theme: “Antiquity and Love”. Antiquity will be represented by Ottorino Respighi’s Ancient Dances and the overture to Gluck’s opera Iphigenie in Aulida. The theme of love is embodied by Jan Kubelík’s Concerto No. 1 for violin and orchestra, chosen by the patron of the festival himself. The highlight of the evening will be the famous Violin Concerto in E minor, Op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy – a work that needs no long introduction.
Beautiful romantic melodies will be performed in an unusual industrial space, which will enhance the exceptional atmosphere of this festive evening. Entrance to the Nevoga premises is possible from 18:00, the ticket price includes a tour of the company.
Possible transport by bus NEVOBUS:
at 18:00, 18:45 and 19:15, from the Municipal Theatre in Znojmo
at 22:30 and 23:00 back to the theatre from Nevoga
UHERČICE CASTLE CONCERT: (KMENY) TRIBES
A magical combination of music and acrobatics performed by masters of improvisation. And it is improvisation that makes every performance of TRIBES (KMENY) a unique show that will never be repeated. The central trio of musicians improvise, the dancers, acrobats and the sound and lighting engineers improvise.
KMENY is not only a unique musical theatre experience, but also a meeting with the top of the Czech urban dance scene. The dancers use different dance styles to complement the musical improvisations and create a magical connection that will fill the audience with an unforgettable experience. Acrobats bring a variety of circus disciplines to the show. They will perform acts using suspended acrobatics or also the cyr wheel.
The bus departs from the Municipal Theatre at 6:30 pm. Return to the same place after the concert. Tickets for the bus are available in advance.
The concert takes place in all weather conditions (in case of rain, use raincoats, umbrellas are not accepted).
